After months of fundraising, we finally made it! Training camp is over and I’m currently in Texas waiting to board a plane to Ecuador! Honestly, I thought this day would never come and I can’t believe we are here. The past four days I have been at training camp in Georgia and had the opportunity to listen to some amazing and Spirit filled teachers. I wanted to share my six favorite takeaways from training camp:

  1. God speaks my language. The Father is so gracious in that He speaks to each of us in unique ways that we will understand.
  2. The importance and value of culture. People are different for a reason and it is a good thing. Culture is God-given, God-redeemed, and God-exalting.
  3. The Holy Spirit dwells in Christ followers. The Spirit is our companion and has habituation rights in us, not just the rights to visit us. The Spirit is intimate with us and won’t leave us.
  4. Our tasks and goals should be interruptible. God calls us to go out of your way, and we should answer those calls even if they don’t feel “convenient” to us.
  5. God often speaks and gives us an opportunity to respond and He will give us another opportunity later because He is so gracious. If you don’t answer God’s call the first time, don’t be discouraged because there will be another opportunity.
  6. Holding things against others in unforgiveness is a burden to us. This makes us a slave to them and their actions. Forgiving others like Christ forgave us frees us from those burdens and starts a new future for us walking towards Christ.

I have learned so much already and can’t wait to see what else I’ll learn throughout this journey. Next stop, Ecuador!
