The past few weeks we have been able to help with some amazing local ministries. Our schedule has been relatively the same thus far and starting next week we will be involved with a new ministry.

On Wednesdays and Fridays, we have had to opportunity to help out at Camp Hope which is a ministry for children with special needs. Unfortunately, the kids haven’t been able to be on site at this ministry for almost a year now because of the pandemic. We have been able to help with deep cleaning the facilities so kids will hopefully be able to return to the campus sometime in the near future.

On Thursdays, we have been able to help with Venezuela en Ecuador which is an organization that helps Venezuelan refugees in Ecuador. We were able to paint a room for the organization that is going to be converted into a medical facility for the people they help. While helping this ministry we were able to learn more about Venezuelan refugees and how this ministry helps them. Also, we were able to spend time in prayer with the people we were helping and form relationships with some of our brothers and sisters in Christ in Ecuador.

On Saturdays and Sundays, we have been helping out around the property where we are staying. We have been helping with maintenance around the property and doing various jobs like helping with gardening, sawing wood, and digging trenches to help with the ministry at our Ecuadoran home. Our host family, Fabi and Mabe, have loved and served us so well already during our short time in Ecuador so it fills my heart to help them with how they minister to others. We have some exciting projects coming up soon that I can’t wait to share with everyone once they get started.

I’ve loved my time serving in Ecuador and can’t wait for all the ministry opportunities to come. Ministry definitely looks different than I expected coming into this trip, but we have the opportunity to help those who have been without help for months due to the pandemic. Our work has been far from glamorous, but we have already served and formed relationships with many during our few weeks here.

Heres some fun pictures of what we’ve been up to!

*all pictures without masks only contain my squad who I live with in Ecuador. Masks are always worn when we are around locals.
